Conservation of the Federally Endangered Pitkin Marsh Leopard Lily

THE RAREST OF THE RARE

The Pitkin Marsh Lily (Lilium pardalinum ssp. pitkinense) is known from a single population in western Sonoma County and is listed by the Federal and State governments as “Endangered”. Pinecrest is leading a multi-stakeholder initiative to revise the management plan, rehabilitate the conservation easement, and apply for grants to fund research, conservation, and management of this critically endangered plant. Partners NGOs and agencies that have worked on this project now and in the past include California Dept. of Fish & Wildlife, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, County of Sonoma, The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, The California Native Plant Society, Goatlandia Animal Rescue, Cal State East Bay, and U.C. Berkeley.
